At about 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon the spirit of Augustine J. Fogle took its flight. He had been sick for a long time, but although not unexpected his death will leave a great blank in his family and the community. Mr. Fogle was one of the best-known and most respected citizens in Altoona, where he had spent nearly his entire life. His parents being poor, he was thrown upon his own resources when a mere boy, and commenced life as a drive of a team between the ore mines a short distance east of this city and Allegheny furnace. By the practice of care and economy he succeeded in amassing a comfortable competence, which he leaves to his surviving wife, son and daughter. His life was one that could be imitated with profit by the young, which is as fitting an epitaph as can be pronounced. The deceased was aged about 47 years, and had for some time past resided on Eighth avenue near Twelfth street. For a number of years and up to the time of his death he had been engaged in the stationery business, being the junior partner in the firm of O'Neil and Fogle. Many years since he took as his life partner Margaret Sullivan, who survives him. Mr. Fogle was a consistent and faithful member of St. John's Catholic Church. The funeral will take place on Sunday, to leave the house at 2 o'clock and proceed to St. John's Church. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Saturday, May 8, 1880
