FORD DIES EARLY TODAY Well Known Eye Specialist Succumbs to Complication of Diseases Dr. Frank Albert Ford, the well-known eye specialist, died at 1:45 o'clock this morning at the home of his mother, Mrs. Albert Ford, of the Blumenthal apartments, Fourteenth avenue and Twelfth street. Dr. Ford was well known in Altoona, being a native of Cresson and a resident of Altoona for the past seventeen years. He was born May 25, 1875at Cresson. He was graduated from the medical school of the University of Pennsylvania in 1879 [sic],, after which he spent a year as a resident physician in the Christopher hospital, Philadelphia, and a year in the Wills' Eye hospital, also located at that place. He was also a resident physician at the Altoona hospital. After leaving the Wills' hospital he came to Altoona and began practicing, becoming in time one of the leading eye specialists of the county. For the past year he had offices at Thirteenth avenue and Twelfth street. He had been ill intermittently for the past several years, and had been confined to bed at his mother's home for the last four months. Death was due to a complication of diseases. He is survived by his wife and one child, Boyd Albert. His mother and one sister, Mrs. Myers, of Wilkinsburg, also survive. Dr. Ford was a nephew of S. A. Ford, of Bellwood, superintendent of the Bellwood division of the Pennsylvania railroad. Dr. Ford was a member of the Second Presbyterian church, the Masons and the Altoona Lodge of the Elks. He was also a member of the Blair County Medical society, the American Medical association and the Pennsylvania State Medical society. The funeral arrangements will be announced later. Ford will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the residence, 1130 Thirteenth avenue. At 3:20 the body will be taken to Tyrone, where burial will be made at Grandview cemetery.
