Mrs. Loretto [sic] Fortier, of Steelton, formerly of Newry, died in the Harrisburg hospital at 11 o'clock Saturday night of pneumonia. She was the wife of Oliver Fortier and was born at Newry Nov. 8, 1896, the daughter of Austin and Anna Kephart. Besides her husband and parents, she is survived by two brothers, Dean, of Duncansville and Fred of Newry and two sisters, Helen and Eveline, both of Newry. She was married three months ago. The body will be brought to the home of her parents and funeral services will be held at 2.30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon, with burial in the Lutheran cemetery at Newry. Altoona Times, Altoona, Pa., Monday Morning, October 14, 1918 NEWRY The mortal remains of Mrs. Oliver Portier, (nee Loretto Kephart), were brought from a Harrisburg hospital to the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Austin Kephart, on West Allegheny street on Monday and were interred in the family plot in the Lutheran cemetery on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Portiery was born in the old town and grew up amidst its rural shade, into a very attractive woman. She early in her young life united with the Lutheran church, and was an active worker in the Sunday school and the young people's societies. Her kindly disposition and genial sunny temper won her many friends. Her natural repartee and vivaciousness dispelled the gloom in any gathering in which she was present. About three months ago, she was united in marriage to the man of her choice, and the young couple went to housekeeping at Steelton, where the husband was employed with a seemingly bright and happy future before them. But disease, the common enemy of the race, willed it otherwise, and now the young husband is mourning the loss and companionship of his young wife and the parents of a dutiful and affectionate daughter. The sympathy of the whole neighborhood goes out to them in this their day of bereavement.
