Died Sunday as a Result of a Stroke of Paralysis. At 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon John Frederick died at his home, 1718 Fifth avenue, of apoplexy. He was a member of Street Commissioner Vaughn's force and received the stroke which resulted in his death while at work at Second avenue and Tenth street, last Wednesday morning. The deceased was born in Bedford, February 4, 1833, and had resided in this city since 1877. He served with distinction throughout the civil war in company G, Twelfth Pennsylvania cavalry. He was married in 1856 to Margaret J. Holland, who, with these children, survives: H. E. and W. G., of Logan township, and Thomas E. and Mrs. Annie Buck, residing in this city. He is also survived by one brother, William, of Hollidaysburg, and one sister, Mrs. Caroline Oswald, of Irvona. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist church and until recently a member of the Grand Army of the Republic and the Union Veteran Legion. The funeral will take place Wednesday afternoon, leaving the house at 1.30 o'clock and proceeding to the Salem Lutheran church at Elizabeth Furnace, where services will be conducted.
