Funeral on Monday Mrs. Eliza Funk, one of the oldest residents in Tyrone died at 4:20 o'clock Friday afternoon at the home of her son, H. Blair Funk, on Washington avenue, near Twelfth street. Last August Mrs. Funk fell in the yard at her home and suffered painful injuries from which she never fully recovered. Her advanced age would not sustain the shock and complications set in resulting in her death at the time stated. Deceased was born in Warrior's Mark Valley, January 3, 1828, reaching the 85th milestone in her life just two weeks ago. She was united in marriage to Samuel Funk and for many years they lived at Huntingdon Furnace, and then moved to Sinking Valley, where Mr. Funk died April 16, 1898. Then family then moved to Birmingham and 12 years ago moved to Tyrone, Mrs. Funk making her home with her son. Mrs. Funk was a good Christian woman, being a lifelong member of the Methodist Episcopal church. She was the oldest and last surviving member of her family. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. John S. Atlee, of Sinking Valley, and H. Blair Funk, of Tyrone. Funeral was held Monday at the late home at 10 a.m. in charge of Rev. W. W. Hartman, pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal church.
