On Friday Mrs. Josephine Furrer, of this city, died at Denver, Col., of consumption. The family had resided at 409 Second avenue until recently, when Mrs. Furrer, accompanied by her son, Herman, and daughter, Irma, went to Denver in the hope that her health might be benefitted. She, however, continued to decline until she passed away. She was held in high esteem here by a number of friends, who will learn of her death with sincere regret. She is survived by four children: Mrs. James Shaffer, Irma and Herman, of Denver, and Charles G., of this city. The remains will be brought to this city for interment. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Thursday, January 19, 1905, page 8 DEATH RECORD. MRS. JOSEPHINE FURRER, widow of Joseph M. Furrer, January 13, at Denver, Col. of consumption. A letter from her son, Charles G. Furrer, to Hickey & O'Neil, undertakers, asking them to arrange to take charge of the funeral, received yesterday morning, was the first intelligence of her death. Mrs. Furrer and her two sons went west some time ago in the hope that the change of climate would be beneficial to her and prolong her life. The family home is at 409 Second avenue. Joseph M. Furrer for many years conducted a stone yard at 617 Ninth avenue. When he passed away the business was continued by the sons. At the present time Charles G. Furrer is the proprietor. The remains of Mrs. Furrer will be placed in a vault at Denver and kept there perhaps a month before being brought east. They will be buried at Altoona.
