It appears that Mr. Galbraith got upon the front beam of one of Lloyd's lumber cars, at Plane 10, yesterday at noon, for the purpose of coming to town. When a short distance this side of the Portage Iron Works, the train ran off the track, and the lumber fell upon him, striking him in various places so severely as to kill him almost instantly. The carman escaped with but slight injury. Mr. G. we believe was originally from Indiana county. He has resided in this place about four years, three of which he spent in the service of the Commonwealth as weighmaster on the canal. Latterly he has been agent for the Merchant's Way Freight Line. In his intercourse with our citizins he has won the confidence and esteem of all, and was ever looked upon as a upright and honorable man. He leaves behind a large family to mourn his untimely end.
