Mrs. Catharine Gallagher, of 1329 Seventeenth avenue, pass quietly away at her home at 5.30 o'clock Sunday morning of paralytic spasms, from which she had suffered for eight years. Deceased was born in Pottsville, September 9, 1812, and was therefore in her 87th year. She came to this vicinity when an infant with her parents and had resided in the vicinity of Altoona ever since. For the past eight years she made her home with her daughter-in-law, Mrs. John McCune, of 1329 Seventeenth avenue, who has been constant in her care of the invalid. Deceased was married to Thomas Gallagher in 1832. He died thirty years ago. She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Jacob Schandelmeier, of Boone county, Iowa, and Mrs. John McCune, at whose home she died. She was a member of St. John's Catholic church. Two brothers, Levi Hoover, of Piney Creek, and Joseph Hoover, of Lima, Kan., also survive as do fourteen grand children and eighteen great grand children. Altoona Tribune, Thursday, February 9, 1899
