The Wife of Andrew Gardner Died on Saturday Morning. Mrs. Mary M. Gardner, wife of Andrew Gardner, died at the family home on West Fifteenth street at five minutes before 6 o'clock on Saturday morning last, after an illness of many months from a complication of diseases. She had been confined to her bed eight weeks. Born at Philipsburg, October 23, 1834, deceased was 62 years, 7 months and 6 days old at death. Mrs. Gardner's maiden name was Mary M. Ream. On the first day of January, 1852 she was united in marriage to Andrew Gardner at Bloomington, a Clearfield county village. In 1854, Mr. and Mrs. Gardner removed from Clearfield county to Blair county, where they lived until 1871, most of the time being spent at Tipton. In that year, they removed to Osceola Mills, and in 1879, returned to this side of the mountain again, locating in Tyrone, where the past sixteen years have been spent by the family. Mrs. Gardner was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church from early life. She was a fond and faithful wife and parent, and good neighbor. Though of delicate constitution, she was a woman of strong nerve and discharged the responsibilities of life faithfully. One of the most trying circumstances of life in the family was when they were burned out at the time of the great conflagration that swept almost out of existence the town of Osceola Mills. Besides Mr. Gardner, ten children survive, viz: J. W., R. C., William A., Frank, Charles and Violet Gardner, of Tyrone; Mrs. Andrew Foreman, Mrs. Ed Gorman and Mrs. Henry Reinsmith, of Osceola Mills, and Harry K. Gardner, of Pittsburg. Three brothers and two sisters also survive the deceased, viz: John, Curtis and William Ream, of Osceola Mills; Mrs. William A. Bloom, of New Millport, Pa., and Mrs. Andrew Baughman, of Hunting Hill, Md. Funeral occurred at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon from the house, the sons of the deceased acting as pall bearers. Interment at Tyrone cemetery. Rev. V. T. Rue conducted the services. Tyrone Daily Herald, Tyrone, Pa., June 3, 1897
