The many of our townspeople who became acquainted with Miss Rachel Garner while she was visiting her brother, G. M. Garner, of Poplar street, a few months ago, will be very sorry to hear of her death (due to a complication of diseases) at the Old Folks' home in Martinsburg, at 5 p.m. Sunday. Miss Garner was born in Huntingdon county in 1843 and was a daughter of George and Elizabeth Garner. When still a child she went with her parents to Clover Creek, where she lived until the death of her parents, after which she moved to Williamsburg, where she continued to live until a few months ago. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church and when health permitted, was always active in all its work and will be very much missed in this field of action, as elsewhere. Miss Garner is survived by two brothers and one sister - Isaiah, of Avia; George, of Roaring Spring, and Mrs. Isaac White, of Williamsburg. The funeral services will be conducted in the Lutheran church of Clover Creek at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning. Interment will be made in Clover Creek cemetery.
