All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ James Garvey, One of the oldest residents of this vicinity, died of a complication of diseases, at 11:30 last night, at his home on Brush mountain, two miles north of Hollidaysburg, aged 88 years. The deceased was born in County Down, Ireland, and came to this country in 1854. He resided in Philadelphia for about two years and then removed to the farm on Brush mountain, where he died. While yet in the old country he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Reilly. His wife preceded him to the grave one week ago, when her death was noted in these columns. Three children, two sons and one daughter, survive, as follows: John, of Buffalo, N.Y., and William and Annie, at home. The deceased was a member of the Catholic church, having been a communicant of St. Mary's church for many years. During his long residence in this vicinity he made many friends and acquaintances by whom he was highly respected. The funeral will take place at 8:30 tomorrow morning, services to be conducted in St. Mary's church at Hollidaysburg, at 9:30, after which the remains will be interred in the cemetery connected with it.
