Mrs. Mary Gates, widow of the late Jacob Gates, of Duncansville, died November 1, in Lancaster, Pa., at the home of her grandson S. L. Kistler, where she was visiting with her daughter, Mrs. Emma Kistler, of Philadelphia. She was aged 87 years, and was the mother of twelve children, all of whom are living. They are: George W., of Cincinnati, Ohio; David H., of Newport, Ky.; Joseph and Martin, of LaCrosse, Kan.; Mrs. Sophia Shade, Mrs. Elizabeth Shade and Mrs. Ann McCauley, of near Hayes City, Kan.; W. B. Gates, of Allegheny City; John, of Petersburg; Mrs. Margaret Miller, of Duncansville; and C. M. Gates, of No. 2802 Broad street, this city. Also one brother, J. K. Bowers, of Roaring Spring, and two sisters, Mrs. Sophia Linn, of Bunker Hill, Kas.; and Mrs. Reilly, of Davenport, Iowa. The funeral arrangements have not yet been made. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Monday, November 3, 1890 Local Brevities. The remains of Mrs. Mary Gates were brought to this city from Lancaster city yesterday. The funeral will take place at 1 o'clock to- day from the residence of her son, C. M. Gates, 2802 Broad street. Interment in Carson Valley cemetery. The services will be held at the house.
