MARY C. GATES

Of 5419 Kissell Ave., died at 6:20 a.m. today in Altoona Hospital, 
where she was admitted May 15, after an extended illness. She was born 
at Scotia, Centre County, Feb. 23, 1902, a daughter of Samuel and 
Harriet (Garber) Dick, and married Harold D. Gates, who died Dec. 26, 
1966. Surviving are three children, Marion D. of Kalamazoo, Mich., 
Carroll E. of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Mrs. Mary Lou Leighty of 
Altoona; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. 
Golda Feather, Miss Susan, Mrs. Edith Isenberg and Mrs. Irene Myers, 
and two half-brothers, Arthur and Claude Dick, all of Roaring Spring. 
Mrs. Gates was a member of the Altoona Bible Church and National 
Association of Civil Employes Auxiliary. Friends may call at the 
Lafferty Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. 
tomorrow.
