MRS. MARY C. GATES

Of Grazierville, died at 8:40 a.m. yesterday at the home of her 
daughter, Mrs. Belva Barley of 535 N. 3rd St., Bellwood, following an 
extended illness.  She was born Oct. 4, 1875, at Allensville, a 
daughter of Nathaniel and Mary Frances (Newcomer) Lytle, and was 
married to Walter Gates at Tyrone April 27, 1897.  He died Oct. 19, 
1946.  Surviving are six children, Mrs. Frances Smith and Mrs. Barley 
of Bellwood, Mrs. Agnes Seeds and Alfred of Tyrone, and Fred and Cloyd 
of Dearborn, Mich.; 15 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and three 
sisters, Mrs. Dessie Harpster and Mrs. Florence Shaffer of Tyrone and 
Mrs. Virginia Johnson of Altoona.  She was of the Lutheran faith and a 
member of Tyrone Garden Club.  Friends are being received at the Graham 
& Getz Funeral Home, Tyrone.
