Mrs. Emma Josephine Gearhart, wife of John F. Gearhart, died at her late residence, 928 First avenue at 7:10 o'clock last evening of a complication of diseases. She had been ill for the past two years. She was born March 16, 1858, in Franklin county, the daughter of John and Angeline Etter, deceased. She was married on February 21, 1881. She is survived by her husband and the following children: Mrs. Harry J. Gearhart of Pittsburg, Charles W. Gearhart of the U.S. aviation corps, San Antonio, Texas, Mrs. W. P. Neff and Henry James Gearhart, both of this city. She is also survived by six brothers and sisters. She was a member of the Second Lutheran church, the Ladies' auxiliary, B. of L.E., Blair Div. No. 501. The remains can be viewed Friday evening. Services and interment private on Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Altoona Tribune, Thursday morning, May 23, 1918, page 10
