GEORGE GEARHART,

An old resident, died at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the residence
of his son, Fred W. Gearhart, 1010 Sixth avenue.  He was born in
Schmeheim, Grand Duchy of Baden, August 4, 1804, and came to the United
States in November, 1852.  He then purchased a farm in Carson Valley,
where he resided until October, 1864, when he removed to Altoona, where
he lived until his death.  He was twice married, but both wives
preceded him to the grave.  He is survived by two sons - Jacob, 130
Howard avenue, and Fred W., 1010 Sixth avenue.  He was a member of St.
James Evangelical church, of this city.  The funeral services will be
held at the residence of his son, F. W. Gearhart, 1010 Sixth avenue, at
2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon.  Interment in Fairview cemetery.
