Peter Geiswhite, an aged German resident of this city, died at his home, 1508 Twelfth street, very suddenly at 7 o'clock yesterday morning of heart disease. He was around his home Saturday in his usual health, but was seized suddenly yesterday morning with the dread disease. Coroner McCartney was called in, but after learning the facts he deemed an inquest unnecessary. The deceased was born in Union county 89 years ago. He was a veteran of the Mexican and civil wars, having served during the latter war in the Fifty-sixth Pennsylvania volunteers. He was a member of Post 176, Grand Army of the Republic, Lewistown. Deceased is survived by four children -Mrs. Edward Heller, of Altoona; Mrs. Alice Fleck, of Philipsburg; Ozor, of Mifflin county, and Mrs. Carrie Lohr, of Altoona. Funeral services will be held at the house Tuesday forenoon in charge of the Grand Army of the Republic; interment in the soldiers' plot in Fairview. Altoona Tribune, Monday, December 5, 1898
