The deceased was born in Cumberland county and was a cabinet maker. On May 1, 1840, he married Miss Amelia A. Patterson, of Williamsburg, who died October 5, 1851. In 1843 he moved to Davidsburg, now known as Hensheytown, which was then a thriving village. IN 1853 he married Miss Mary A. Bell, of Carlisle, who survives him. Two sisters and two brothers, whose home is in Perry county, also survive, and three children, Miss Jennie, of Nagasaki, Japan; Mrs. Anna M. Hicks, of Altoona and Thomas P. of Bellwood. He was one of the pioneer residents of Bells Mills, having moved to his present home in 1874. In his early youth he united with the Methodist church and was always an active worker in it. For many years he served as justice of the peace. The funeral services will be held in the Methodist church at Bellwood on Thursday afternoon a 2 o'clock, after which his body will be laid to rest in Logan Valley cemetery.
