Gibboney Passes Away Yesterday Morning. At a quarter of 8 o'clock yesterday morning, Mr. Davis F. Gibboney, died at his residence, 1114 Eighth avenue, of angina pectoris. He was a carpenter by occupation and was born December 17, 1825, in the vicinity of Williamsburg. There he learned his trade with Adam Rhule, carried on business for himself for some time, and later became an employe of other contractors. For many years he worked with M. V. Shollar, of Williamsburg, and Captain James Shollar, now one of the foremost contractors in this vicinity. He was married to Mrs. Sadie McCauley, and has resided in Altoona since 1885. His wife and the following children survive him: Mr. E. S. Gibboney, of Huntingdon; Mrs. Patience Borst, of Port Royal, and Mrs. Mary Johnson, of Clappertown; also the following step-children: J. Harry McCauley, of this city; Mrs. E. S. Cramer, of Saxton; A. J. McCauley and Mrs. M. W. Hoover, of Harrisburg. For years he had been a member of the Lutheran church and since his residence in this vicinity he was a member of the First congregation. The funeral will take place at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, services being held at the house. The place of interment is yet to be decided upon. Mrs. Gibboney has been confined to her bed for the past week, a sufferer from pleurisy. Her husband was able to attend her Sunday night, doing everything for her that could be done. Yesterday she was somewhat better, and her friends hope for her recovery, although the sad demise of her husband may retard her recovery. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Tuesday, December 14, 1897, page 4
