At a private hospital in New York city on Thursday afternoon, Miss Mary L. Gibboney passed away after a lingering illness. Miss Gibboney was a daughter of Benjamin F. and Sarah Akers Gibboney, and was born at Martinsburg. Most of her life was spent in Tyrone and Altoona, except for a few years at Johnstown. In early childhood she united with the Methodist Episcopal church, of which she was a devoted member until called to the church triumphant. Her death comes as a release from great suffering and while friends will greatly miss her they rejoice in her assurance of a better world to which she has gone. She was widely known here, having for several years been assistant librarian at the Altoona Mechanics' library, and having had a host of friends throughout the county. Surviving are these brothers and sisters: Mrs. M. P. Canfield and James, of Mobile, Ala.; Mrs. C. S. Baker, of New York; John, of Ohio; Charles, of Tyrone. The funeral will take place Saturday morning, the cortege coming from New York and going to Martinsburg on the morning train. Service will be held in the Methodist Episcopal church at Martinsburg and the body laid to rest in the family plot in the cemetery there.
