Gibbs, a well known and respected resident of this town passed away at the home of his brother, George J. Gibbs, 1040 Lincoln avenue, on Thursday afternoon. Mr. Gibbs had been in failing health for some time and two weeks ago he was stricken suddenly on the street and had to be assisted to his home. Since that time he declined rapidly and was forced to take his bed about a week ago. Frank Jackson Gibbs was born at Hopkinton, Mass., September 29, 1848, and was the eldest son of the late Jackson and Hannah Gibbs. When a boy, his parents moved to Hollidaysburg, where his father was engaged in the livery business. In this way, Mr. Gibbs became an expert with horses and he was especially proficient in driving racing ones. He was also the inventor of many articles which revealed an unusually ingenuity. Of a quiet, unassuming disposition, he always retained the friendship of all whom he met, and his demise will be mourned by many. Surviving is his brother George J. Gibbs, with whom he had made his home for the past thirty-two years. Funeral services will be held at the Gibbs' homestead, 1040 Lincoln avenue at 3 o'clock this afternoon, conducted by Rev. Augustus S. Fasick, D.D., pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal church. Interment in Grand View cemetery. Altoona Tribune, Saturday Morning, May 11, 1918, page 3
