Yesterday one of Altoona's aged citizens passed from this world into the next. Mrs. Rosanna Gilmartin, aged 82 years, died at the residence of Michael Brannan, on Seventh avenue and Eighth street. The time for the funeral has not been determined. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Friday, November 12, 1880 The Decease of Mrs. Gilmartin. Reference was yesterday made in this paper to the deceased of Mrs. Rosanna Gilmartin at the residence of her son-in-law, Michael Brannan. The funeral will take place Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock; services at St. John's church. Mrs. Gilmartin was a native of County Sligo, Ireland, but emigrated to this country twenty-three years since and came directly to Altoona, where she resided until the time of her death. She has always been a consistent member of the Catholic church and belonged to a family noted for its piety. No less than seven of her cousins entered the priesthood and three of them were friars. Bishop Tuigg was a great favorite and friend with her. The good man never came to Altoona without visiting her. Mr. Gilmartin preceded his wife about two years in his journey into the unknown world. A very large concourse of friends will follow the remains to the grave to-day. By her death a vacancy has been made in the community which will be widely felt, as she was known and respected by all. The time of funeral as announced on our third page is incorrect, a change having been made after it went to press. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Saturday, November 13, 1880 Died.
