Gingerich Robert L Gingerich, 71, of 720 Oak Street, Tyrone, Pa. died Saturday, May 12, 1990, at 8:35 p.m. at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, where he had resided since Feb. 23. He was born March 30,1919, at Huntingdon, the son of George R. and Mary H. (Rhine) Gingerich. On Jan. 5, 1951, he was married to May Bonsell. He is survived by his wife, one son, Robert K. Gingerich, of Tyrone, one sister and one brother, Cathryn Hess and Elwood R. Gingerich, both of Tyrone, and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Tipton Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and a 1939 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. He was a member of World War II and the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Marine Corps as a staff sergeant in the Pacific Theatre. He was wounded in action at Guadalcanal. In March, 1981, he retired as an operator at the Tyrone Borough Sewage Plant after 16 years of service. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Derman Funeral Home Inc. with John Bonsell officiating. Interment will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Sinking Valley.
