At fifteen minutes before 8 o'clock Tuesday morning Mr. John E. Ginter died at his residence, No. 1425 Second avenue. Mr. Ginter had been in the employ of the railroad company as a laborer in the round house and had been ill for a year past from throat troubles. Seven months ago he was compelled to cease work, because of failing health and although he had not worked during that time and suffered greatly, yet his death was unexpected. He was 54 years of age last April. He leaves a wife, three daughters and one son. The children are Mrs. Susan Hoffman, Mrs. Jennie Wilt, Miss Katie Ginter and Mr. Frank Ginter, all residing in this city. Mr. Ginter was a kind husband and indulgent father and his death will be lamented by all who knew him. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Thursday, January 5, 1888, page 4
