Glass, an old and well known resident of this city, died at half-past 10 o'clock on Saturday night at his home, No. 70 Washington avenue, after a long illness. Deceased was born near Altoona January 12, 1825, and was therefore aged 64 years, 1 month and 26 days. He settled in this city about thirty-four years ago and was employed by the Pennsylvania railroad company as a blacksmith until five years ago, when failing health compelled him to quit his trade. Mr. Glass is survived by his wife, to whom he was married eleven years ago, and by seven children by a former wife, who are Mrs. Charles White, William, Samuel, Grant, John, Kate and Edward Glass, all of this city. He is also survived by two brothers and three sisters, who are: Peter Glass, at the Soldiers' hospital, Hayes City, Kansas; Henry Glass, of Vandalia, Owen county, Ohio; Mrs. Burkheimer, of Juniata Gap, and Mrs. Markey of Washington avenue, this city. Mr. Glass was a consistent member of the First Presbyterian church and was prepared for the summons when it came. He was also a member of Altoona lodge No. 473, Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
