Edward A. Glunt

  Edward A Glunt, aged 63, of 2202 Seventh avenue, a well known local 
contractor, died at his home at 7.10 o'clock last evening of a 
complication of diseases after having been bedfast for the past six 
months.  
  He was born at Richlands, Cambria county, on Jan. 9, 1871, a son of 
Levi and Mary (Reese) Glunt, but had resided in Altoona for a number of 
years, being employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad company at East 
Altoona prior to entering the contracting business.  Mr. Glunt engaged 
principally in paving and similar work, including bridge building 
throughout the state.  One of his contracts covered the rebuilding of 
the Martinsburg reservoir four years ago.  
  He was active in politics and civic affairs and had served as 
Republican committeeman from his ward for some time.  
  On Sept. 6, 1905, Mr. Glunt was united in marriage with Miss Lillian 
May Garrecht, the surviving son being born to the marriage.  The first 
Mrs. Glunt died some years ago and on Dec. 24, 1921, Mr. Glunt was 
united in marriage with Miss Fannie M. Cassidy.
  Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Fanny (Cassidy) Glunt, one son George E. 
Glunt, two grandchildren, Lillian and George and two sisters, Mrs. Ella 
Cherry and Mrs. Maude Boone and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Grace (Ingram) 
Glunt, all of the city.  
  Mr. Glunt was a member of the First Baptist church for the past 
forty-two years.  The body may be viewed at the home where funeral 
services will be held at 2.30 o'clock Saturday afternoon with Rev. K. 
L. Bixler of the Simpson Methodist church and Rev. Elmer Horner of 
Calvary Baptist church officiating.
  Interment will be made in Oak Ridge cemetery.
