Glunt, aged 43, a native of Altoona and a former well known pilot and instructor at the Duncansville airport, died in the Coatesville hospital at 7.15 o'clock Saturday morning after a brief illness. He resided in Modena, working as a salesman for the Capital Baking company of Coatsville. Mr. Glunt was born in Altoona Nov. 2, 1906, a son of Edward and Lillian (Garrett) Glunt, graduating from Altoona High school and Carnegie Tech. For some years he operated the Glunt Construction company and the United Flying schools in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Maryland. He and his family resided at 707 Twenty-ninth street for several years. He entered the army air force as a lieutenant in 1943 and served for some months in the ATC in the CBI area, flying the Himalayas, subsequently piloting the plane which brought Secretary of State James F. Byrnes from the Big Four conference in Paris in 1946. Rising to the rank of captain he was awarded various decorations. Following the war he was employed for several years by commercial airlines. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Grace (Ingram) Glunt, and two children, Edward, at home and Mrs. Alfred Hanscom of Julian, and two grandchildren. He was a member of the First Baptist church and 32nd degree Mason, holding membership in Mountain Lodge, F. and A.M.; the Williamsport consistory and Jaffa Shrine. The body is being returned to Altoona and friends will be received after 9 o'clock tomorrow morning at the N. A. Stevens mortuary.
