Gority, 83 of Hillview Care Center, formerly of 1524 17th Ave., died at 1:40 p.m. Friday, May 22, 1992 at Hillview Care Center, following an extended illness. Mrs. Gority retired as a cook for Blair Senior Services in 1983 and had been a cook at Bishop Guilfoyle High Schooland at the Cathedral Convent and Rectory beginning in 1953. She was born June 11,1908, in Altoona, the daughter of Austin and Anna Marie (Irwin) Kuhn. She was twice married: first in 1925 to Samuel Geer, who died January 26, 1929; then on October 28, 1931 to Cecil Gority in Altoona. He died Dec. 6 1955. Surviving are seven children: Robert Mahoney of Hilton N.Y., Mary Ann Schmidhammer of St. Petersburg, Fla., Catherine Harden, Raymond L. Gority, Regina Friedenberger, John F. Gority and Michael J. Gority of Altoona; a stepson, Clement Gority of Altoona, 32 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters and a brother; Emily Murray of Cape May, N.J., and Margaret Elliot and Francis of Elizabethtown. Mrs. Gority was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. She was also a member of Mother Seton Guild, Democratic Women's Federation and Daughers of Erin. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at Jones Funeral Home. Gority, formerly of 1524 17th Ave., will be held with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Internment at Calvary Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Jones Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Preceded in death by a son, Cecil Regis Gority and stepson Joseph Edward Gority.
