His wife, two daughters and two sons survive him. William Grauer was one of this state's most successful life insurance agents, and he wrote many policies for Tyrone people. In 1894, he began as an agent for the Mutual Life Insurance company of New York, with which company he remained until January, 1901. In March that same year, he moved to Altoona, and became associated with the New York Life Insurance company, with which he was connected until the time of his death. He was known all over the state as one of the best solicitors of that company, and had he lived, he would have been president of the $200,000 club for the coming year, the highest honor attainable among the solicitors of that company.
