Two Distressing Accidents in the Altoona Railroad Yard. Charles Gray, jr., a brakeman in Conductor Figart's yard crew, was in the act of cutting out cars from a train at Fourth street, yesterday afternoon, and was walking slowly in front of the moving cars, when he stepped into a frog and his foot became fastened. He struggled to release himself, but the train came on too soon. He was knocked down and the wheels passed over his legs and left arm. When taken to the hospital he was so weak that the physicians could not give an anesthetic without putting an end to his life, so he suffered great pain, but was perfectly conscious until a few moments before his death, which occurred at 10.37 o'clock last night. Brakeman Gray was aged 29 years and resided with his wife at 219 Seventh avenue. He had been railroading nine years, three of them in the Altoona yard. He came here from Huntingdon. He will be buried on Sunday afternoon. Interment in Oak Ridge cemetery. Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., Friday Evening, March 17, 1893
