Gray, died at his home on Juniata street last evening at 6:30 o'clock of dropsy. Deceased was born a Rebecca Furnace, Blair county, in 1829 and was aged 71 years. In early life he engaged? As a forman at the various forges and latter [sic] followed the occupation of quarryman. He was a veteran of the civil war, enlisted at the beginning [and] continued a valiant soldier until the end of the war when he received an honorable discharge. A few years ago [his eyes] became impaired and continually grew worse until he became sightless. Mr. Gray was always a staunch democrat and took an active part in politics. --?-- survived by the following children, Samuel and William, of Williamsburg, Miss Jennie and Mrs. Culbert, of Claysburg; also three brothers and --?-- sisters: John, Samuel and Mercer, of Hollidaysburg; Mrs. Catharine Raugh, --urg; Caroline and Mary, of Williamsburg.
