All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ ALTON EUGENE "PAP" GRAZIER Alton Eugene "Pap" Grazier, 82, Box 67, Martinsburg RR 2, died Wednesday morning, May 4, 2005 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born June 7, 1922 in Warriors Mark, the son of the late David Alton and Eva Maria (Port) Grazier. He married Muriel I. Crosby August 29, 1947, in Dunkirk, NY. She died April 17, 2003. Mr. Grazier was a born anew Christian, whose love for Christ led to many hours of personal Bible study to teach children and guide others in the ways of the Lord. He retired as a driver education instructor at Central High School, Martinsburg, in 1985 after 30 years of service. He also initiated and coached the high school wrestling team for many years. Mr. Grazier was a 1942 graduate of Tyrone High School and a 1951 graduate of Penn State University, where he received his bachelor's degree in general science and physical and safety education. He then received his master's degree in safety education. He was a Navy veteran of World War II from 1942-45, serving on the USS Saratoga and USS Terry, attaining the rank of pharmacist's mate 2nd class. Mr. Grazier was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, camping, gardening, skiing and swimming. Surviving are three daughters: Kathleen Conrardy (husband, Kevin) of Irving, Texas, Alicia Canner (husband, James) of Pine Grove Mills and Carole Chismar (husband, John) of Martinsburg RR 2; 14 grandchildren: Michelle Croft, Kelly (Croft) Free and Matthew Croft, Amara (Canner) Hoffman, Seth, Ethan, Bethany, Judith, Jordan and Christiana Canner and Michael, Benjamin, Wesley and Jeffrey Chismar; eight great- grandchildren: Kassidy and Jacob Free, Arianna and Kaylana Hoffman, Joel and Aidan Canner, Madeline Jenkins and Michael L. Chismar; a brother, Harold Grazier (wife, Theresa) of Tyrone; and two devoted sisters: Betty Kasper and Ruth Grazier, both of Tyrone. He was preceded in death by three brothers: David, George and Robert; and an infant sister, Lois. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday by his son-in-law, Jim Canner. Interment with military flag honors, at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg. The family prefers memorial contributions be given to the Nason Home Hospice Program, Nason Drive, Roaring Spring, PA 16673. Tyrone Daily Herald, May 6, 2005
