A. Green, 1716 Eighth avenue, at 2 o'clock yesterday morning, of euremia. He had been in his usual health for the past several months and on Friday visited at the home of his son and took a hearty dinner. Shortly afterwards he went to the bath room, where he was taken suddenly ill, fell to the floor and was found a short time later by his grandson. Deceased was the son of James and Mary Trout Green, deceased, and was born at Bull Creek, Bedford county, on June 20, 1835. He was for more than half a century in the employ of the Pennsylvania Railroad company, the length of continuous service being fifty-three years. He was for a number of years master mechanic of the Bedford division, until 1892, when he was transferred to Altoona and given a position of foreman in the Altoona machine shops, which he held until retired three years ago. He was a veteran of the civil war, having enlisted on June 30, 1863, in Company C, Forty-sixth regiment, under Captain Huff. He was a member of the Simpson Methodist church and the Bedford lodge of the Masonic fraternity. He is survived by his wife and their children: Grant and Sanford of Pittsburgh, Mrs. T. A. Logan and Mrs. Nellie Donaldson of Wilkinsburg, Miss Maude Green at home and Dr. W. A. Green of Eighth avenue. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Jane Hildebrand of Altoona. The funeral will take place at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, services to be conducted at his late home. Private interment will be made in Fairview Cemetery.
