Green Passes Away at Local Hospital From Self-inflicted Revolver Wound of Head. Daniel A. Green, aged 59, of 612 Fifth avenue, Juniata, died at the Altoona hospital at 3 o'clock this morning as the result of having shot himself in the head yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at his home. Despondency over ill health is believed to have caused the man to end his life. Green had been in poor health for many months and was known to have become depressed over his condition. However, he gave his family no intimation that he intended to take his own life and was in his usual spirits yesterday. Firing a shot from a 38 calibre revolver into the right side of his head, Green was found in the cellar of his home by his wife. The bullet entered the head just above the right temple and came out of the skull near the top of the head. A physician was called and attended the wounded and unconscious man until the hospital ambulance arrived and removed him to the institution. He was unconscious when admitted to the hospital and failed to rally from the coma. Coroner Chester C. Rothrock and the city police investigated the case and found it to have been purely a case of suicide. Daniel A. Green was a native of Logan township and was born on Oct. 2, 1873, a son of Samuel and Julia (Sheets) Green, both deceased. He was employed as a tool room attendant in the Juniata shops. Surviving are his wife and the following children: Harry B. of Altoona, Walter F. and D. Albert, at home, Roy N. of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Margaret Conroy of Altoona. He also leaves five grandchildren, one brother, Jerry Green of Wehnwood, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Hedden of Detroit. He was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of Mountain City lodge, No. 472, Junior Order United American Mechanics. The body has been removed to the Mauk and Yates funeral home and may be viewed there anytime after 4 o'clock this afternoon. Funeral services will be conducted at the Mauk and Yates parlors at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. Interment will be made in Rose Hill cemetery.
