David Green Dies of Heart Disease on Saturday Morning Last. On Saturday last, Mr. David Green, for many years a resident of this city, died suddenly at the residence of his brother, William Green, Fifth avenue, between Seventeenth and Eighteenth streets. For fourteen years past the deceased had been blind and latterly made his home with his son Frank, No. 1927 Eleventh avenue. On Saturday he had been invited to his brother William's to partake of a wild turkey dinner. On reaching the house he appeared very much fatigued and remarked that he could not have gone much further. Sinking into a chair immediately after this he expired. Heart disease was the cause of death. The remains of the deceased were afterward taken to the residence of his son Frank, at the above number. Mr. Green was aged 58 years and was born in Bedford county, but removed from there in early life. For many years he was employed on the old Portage railroad, and when the Pennsylvania was being built he did police duty at Tunnelhill, Cambria county. He was afterward employed in various capacities on the latter road. Fourteen years on the 15th of January last the deceased met with an accident and shortly afterward was stricken with blindness; from the latter affliction he never recovered. He leaves a wife and six children to mourn their loss. The names of the children are: F. S. Green, Mrs. Jennie B. Little, Mrs. Annie Lewis, Mrs. Kate Powell, and Misses Tillie and Nellie, all residing in this city. Three brothers and four sisters also survive him. These are: William, of Altoona; Samuel, of Lily's, Cambria county; Thomas, residing in the state of Indiana; Mrs. William Crone, Mrs. Susan Zimmerman, Mrs. Nannie Claycomb, and Mrs. Kate Estep, of Altoona. Mrs. Catharine Green, the mother of the deceased, is still living and makes her home with her son William. Altoona Tribune, November 19, 1885
