Green, of Duncansville and Joseph Stitler, who died in Allegheny city, was [sic] laid in the Presbyterian cemetery. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Thursday, January 19, 1882, page 4 DEATH OF JOHN W. GREEN. Mr.John W. Green died at his residence in Duncansville, at 3 on Wednesday, aged about 31 years. The deceased was a school teacher by profession, having taught the Catfish school part of the present term. On Thanksgiving day he was compelled to give up forever the school room, having contracted that fatal disease pulmonary consumption. The deceased was a native of Huntingdon county. One of the parents is still living in Maddensville. He was a consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal church and was respected by all his neighbors for his many Christian virtues, his manliness, his integrity and courtesy of manners.
