A correspondent of the TRIBUNE, writing from Summit, Scott county, Iowa, gives the particulars of the death of a former resident of Blair county. He says: It is our sad duty to chronicle the death of Mrs. Green, the estimable wife of Allen J. Green. After a short illness she departed this life on Sunday, November 16, aged 70 years, 7 months and 29 days. The immediate cause of her death was cancer of the stomach. Her maiden name was Sarah Ann Shannon. She was born in Frankstown, Blair county, Pa., on March 17, 1820, and was married to Allen J. Green on February 6, 1845. As a result of this union four children were born, two of whom are dead. Edwin, Westley and Father Green survive and mourn the lost of a kind and affectionate wife and mother. Her parents were members of the Presbyterian church, and at an early age she united with that denomination. They moved to Iowa in 1855 and located in this county on the present homestead, where for the past thirty-five years they enjoyed the respect and esteem of their numerous friends and neighbors. The subject of this sketch with her husband has [sic] been efficient and consistent members of the Summit Presbyterian church since 1858. The interment was at Summit, attended by a large concourse of friends and neighbors. The services were conducted by Rev. Francis J. Moffatt, who based his remarks on the thirteenth verse of the fourteenth chapter of Revelations: "And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, write - blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth, yes, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors and their works do follow them."
