Greenleaf, one of Blair county's oldest and best known residents, died at his home at Brooks Mills station yesterday evening, at 7.30 o'clock, following a long illness from a complication of diseases, aged 78 years. Mr. Greenleaf was born and raised in Lancaster county but removed to this county early in life where he secured employment with the Pennsylvania Railroad company. He worked in the shops in this city for many years, or until he was retired some years ago on account of failing health. In 1880 he purchased the Leamer farm, at Leamersville, and removed there with his family [and] engaged in farming along with his work in the shops. After retiring from the shops, he sold the farm and built himself a fine home at Brooks Mills where he has since lived in retirement. His wife preceded him to the grave two years ago. He is survived by two sons and two daughters, Jacob Greenleaf of McKee and Harry Greenleaf, of Martinsburg, Mrs. Irene Clark of Pittsburgh and Cora, at home. He is also survived by a number of grandchildren and one great-grand child. He was a member of the Leamersville Church of the Brethren, and was a deacon in the church. He was always a regular attendant at the services when his health permitted. Mr. Greenleaf is well known in this city and has a number of relatives living here. Funeral announcements will be made later. Altoona Times, Altoona, Pa., Thursday Morning, October 31, 1918 [page erroneously headed Tuesday] 1900 Freedom Township, Blair County census - Martin S.
