Griffin Dies Following Extended Illness John Brewstsr Griffin. 215 West Tenth street, died Sunday night at 9:45 o'clock at the home, following an extended illness. He was born July 19, 1872 at Stormstown, son of John H. and Elmyra Campbell Griffin. On Nov. 5, 1902 at Pennsylvania Furnace, he married Jeaneatte Woods, with the Rev. R. M. Campbell officiating. Surviving are the widow and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Griffin was the last of his immediate family. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church, and served as church treasurer for 22 years. Mr. Griffin came to Tyrone in 1899 and worked for the Judd Smith drug store and for the Templeton Company, and in 1902 engaged in business, with his brother Joseph Griffin, retiring in Jan. 1, 1931. Funeral service will be held Wednesday afternoon in the Graham and Getz funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Dr. Robert L. Hutchinson, assisted by the Rev. Carl C. Helt. Burial will be In Grandview cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home after seven o'clock this evening. Tyrone Daily Herald, January 3, 1956, page 1
