For a number of years he was alderman in the Fifth ward, being the predecessor of the present incumbent, John O'Toole. For the last seven years he has lived a retired life. He was an old soldier, having served in company D, Thirteenth Pennsylvania cavalry from August, 1863, to the close of the civil war. He was under Captain, now Colonel Bell, and leaves a dozen comrades in Blair county to mourn his loss. Mr. Griffin was every inch a soldier and made an enviable war record. Griffin, Annie C., wife of R. H. Metz; Martha M., and Ross C., all of this city. The funeral will take place from his late residence at 2 o'clock on Monday afternoon.
