ALEXANDER GWIN died at his home in Altoona, Thursday afternoon, of pneumonia, after an illness of five days. Mr. Gwin was born in Logan township, then a part of Huntingdon county, March 13, 1823, and was aged at death 81 years, 7 months and 14 days. He was united in marriage November 21, 1854, to Miss Matilda Berry, who survives him. To this union were born eight children, all of whom are living. They are: Michael L., of Logan township; Mrs. L. S. Van Ormer, of Fairview; James A., of Juniata; Mrs. H. C. Canan, of Philadelphia; Harry C., of Pittsburg, and Ada S., Florence M. and Annie M., at home. He is also survived by one sister, Miss Maria Gwin, of Altoona, and ten grandchildren. Huntingdon New Era Journal, Wednesday, November 2, 1904
