  James Lindsay Gwin, Associate Judge of Blair county, appointed March 
19, 1855 and served until the first Monday in December 1855, died 
December 17, 1874.
  He was born December 2, 1817, on a farm near Ivy Side Park, Logan 
Township, a son of Lewis and Catherine (Lindsay) Gwin.  On June 10, 
1845 he married Lillie A. Scott [born June 19, 1821, died July 9, 
1903], a daughter of John and Rosey (Alexander) Scott.
  To their union were born the following children:  M. Scott, W. A., 
Anna R., Albert C., John L., and James L.
  He was an elder in the Presbyterian church, a member of the 
Republican party and by occupation a county surveyor, Justice of the 
peace and a Legislator.
  He died December 17, 1874 in Logan Township and was buried in 
Fairview Cemetery, Altoona, PA.
