All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ FORMER ENGINEER FOR COUNTY DIES Scott Gwin, Prominent Native of Blair, Succumbs Following Stroke Scott Gwin, a native of Blair county, widely known in this section, and for years county engineer, died at his home, Broadway and Nineteenth street, Juniata, at 3:45 o'clock yesterday afternoon. He had suffered a stroke of paralysis eight years ago and had never been well since, although able to be about until Monday when he was suddenly stricken and sank gradually. Mr. Gwin was born July 24, 1847, the son of Judge James L. and Lilyanne Gwin, and resided most of his life at the site of his late home. As a youth he was educated at Columbia Military academy and Logan academy, being trained as a surveyor and devoting most of his life to this work. For many years he was county engineer of Blair county and in this capacity became well known throughout this section. He was for many years a member of the First Presbyterian church. In politics he was always a staunch Republican. He is survived by two brothers, John L., of Cresson, and James L., with whom he made his home. His sister, Anna Rose, preceded him to the grave a few years ago. The funeral services will be held at the late home Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, following by interment in the Fairview cemetery.
