Hale, 90, of 212 E. 12th Street, Tyrone, died at 10:02 a.m. Friday July 11, 2003 at the Tyrone Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born July 11, 1913 at Yellow Creek, Bedford County, the son of Charles and Gertrude (Hall) Hale. He was twice married, first on August 18, 1936 he married Madelyn June Murphy, who died December 5, 1963. Then on April 6, 1965, at Winchester, Va., he married Betty (Garber) Lewis. He is survived by a wife, Betty, a daughter Amy L. Estright and her husband Tad of Bradenton, Fla., two sons, Lynn Hale and his wife Linda of Altoona and Lane Hale of Altoona, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a step-son Marion S. Lewis Jr. and his wife Cris of Tyrone, two step-daughters, Judy Lewis of Tyrone and Shirley Anderson and her husband Jim of Tyrone, seven step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren, and two sisters Nellie Burns of Bellwood and Mary Ramsey of Huntingdon. He was of Methodist faith and was a member of the Hookies Fire Company. He retired in 1972 as a butcher from the Juniata Packing Co., Tyrone after 18 years of service and previously employed for three years at the Chicago Rivet and Machine Company and the former Shaffer Meat Plant in Tyrone. Funeral service will be held Monday, July 14, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Tyrone with Pastor Steven E. Burns officiating. Friends will be received at the home on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. Tyrone Daily Herald, July 12, 2003
