After an illness of more than two years, Richard Halfpenny, a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Halfpenny, died at 11:10 o'clock Monday night in the family home at 600 Sixth avenue, Juniata. The deceased was an exemplary young man and prior to his physical decline was a popular employe of the G. W. Shaffer store, Fourth avenue and Eighth street, in the borough. His long battle for life was followed with anxiety by many close friends but the end was inevitable, and the young citizen succumbed to anemia, with other complications. Richard Van Burkirk Halfpenny was born in Swengel, Union county, on September 5, 1891. His adult years were spent in Juniata, where he was actively identified with church and social life. He is survived by his parents and two brothers and three sisters - William R., Robert L., Anna M. and Nell R., all at home, and Mrs. George Diffenbaugh, of Williamsport. The deceased was a member and active worker in the First Methodist Episcopal church and Sunday school of Juniata. He was also a member of Bellview lodge and of Juniata encampment of Odd Fellows, and of Wasunda tribe of Red Men. The Rev. Alexander Lamberson will conduct a service in the bereaved home this evening at 8 o'clock. Tomorrow at noon the remains will leave Altoona for Union county, funeral service and interment to occur at Swengel, with the Rev. Mr. Lamberson and the Rev. Dorsey Miller, of Lewistown, in charge.
