Born in Huntingdon county, December 8, 1861, he was a son of William and Matilda Hamer. Members of his family include one son, Clarence, and one daughter, Alma, both at home. His wife, Lucy Hamer, died August 5, 1935. Mr. Hamer was a member of the I.O.O.F. Mountain City lodge No. 837, Altoona, and a retired car builder of the Pennsylvania Railroad company.
