Hamilton, daughter of Jonathan and Mary Hamilton, in the 24th year of her age. The Register, Hollidaysburg, Pa., Wednesday, February 24, 1875 DIED: HAMILTON - On the 17th inst., of consumption, Miss Mattie J. Hamilton, daughter of Jonathan and Mary Hamilton, in the 24th year of her age. The deceased was a member of one of our best and most highly respected families. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of this city. To an unusual amiability of disposition were added the graces of the Christian character. Her piety was not demonstrative, but sincere. And so, when death came he had no terrors for her. Funeral services were held at the house of her father on Friday, the 19th inst., at 2 o'clock P. M., and then her remains, followed by a numerous company of friends and relations, were borne to Fairview Cemetery, and laid in the tomb, in hope of a glorious resurrection and a blessed immortality. Loved by all in life, and mourned by all in death, her departure has caused a void in a large circle of friends. But though we miss her presence below, we rejoice to think that she is now with the great family of redeemed ones above. "The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; and blessed be the name of the Lord." Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Thursday, February 25, 1875, page 3
