Stansbury Hamilton, a retired veteran of the Pennsy service and one of the best known residents of the city, died at his home, 604 Sixth avenue, at 12:25 this morning of diseases incident to old age after a short illness. He was born at Barre, February 3, 1856, the son of William and Margaret Hamilton, being one of a family of nine children, five of whom survive him. He entered the service of the Pennsy filiated [sic] with the Logan lodge, F. & A. ber, [sic] 1871, and there entered his apprenticeship in 1873. His ability was given recognition in his appointment as as a labor[er] in the Car Shops in Septem- [sic] inspector for the Pullman company at Pullman, Ind., from where he returned to the car shops in 1906, shortly after which he was promoted to the position of assistant foreman. Within a short time he was appointed foreman to succeed S. M. Houseman. He was a member of the Eighth Avenue Methodist church and was affiliated with the Logan lodge, F. & A. M., and the Knights of Pythias. He is survived by his widow and one daughter, Mrs. E. W. McCurdy, of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and by the following brothers and sisters: Charles, of Juniata; Mrs. Katherine Anderson, Mrs. Samuel Donithan, Mrs. Samuel Hutchison, and Mrs. Jerry Weaver of this city. T. S. Stansfield, pastor of the Eighth Avenue Methodist church. Interment will follow in Rose Hill cemetery. Friends may view the remains from 7 to 9 o'clock tonight.
