HAMMOND, ESQ. - This gentleman died very suddenly at the American House, on Sunday morning, about two o'clock. Mr. Hammond was suffering for the past year or two from that insidious destroyer of the human race, consumption. Near a year ago he visited Minnesota for the benefit of his health, and returned during the last summer, the disease having made surer inroad upon his system. Mr. Hammond was a man of noble qualities, and had many friends here and throughout the county, who will learn of his death with regret. He was a young man of fine abilities and bid fair to arrive to eminence in his profession - the law. But he has gone, where we must all shortly follow. Peace, peace to his memory. The Register, Hollidaysburg, Pa., Wednesday, November 2, 1870
