P.R.R. Veteran Dies Suddenly
  
  Neal C. Hanks of the Kettle Road, died unexpectedly at 4.15 p.m. 
yesterday in the Altoona Hospital where he was admitted Sunday.
  He was born in Bedford County on Oct. 3, 1895, a son of Ambrose and 
Fannie (Arnold) Hanks, and on Feb. 8, 1930, in Cumberland, Md., married 
Ruth Malone.
  Surviving are his wife, one son, Reed of Havertown; a nephew, Joseph 
R. Hanks, who was reared in the home, three grandchildren and one 
brother, Ray E. of Hollidaysburg.
  He was a member of the Twenty-eighth Street Church of the Brethren, a 
member of the Men's Bible Class and a former trustee, a veteran of 
World War I as a sergeant in Company A, 305th Engineers; entered the 
service of the P.R.R. in 1917 and retired as foreman of the Juniata E&M 
shop and was a member of the Foremen's Association.
  Friends will be received in the Replogle Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 
7 to 10 p.m. tomorrow and after 11 a.m. Thursday in the church.
