Hanks of the Kettle Road, died unexpectedly at 4.15 p.m. yesterday in the Altoona Hospital where he was admitted Sunday. He was born in Bedford County on Oct. 3, 1895, a son of Ambrose and Fannie (Arnold) Hanks, and on Feb. 8, 1930, in Cumberland, Md., married Ruth Malone. Surviving are his wife, one son, Reed of Havertown; a nephew, Joseph R. Hanks, who was reared in the home, three grandchildren and one brother, Ray E. of Hollidaysburg. He was a member of the Twenty-eighth Street Church of the Brethren, a member of the Men's Bible Class and a former trustee, a veteran of World War I as a sergeant in Company A, 305th Engineers; entered the service of the P.R.R. in 1917 and retired as foreman of the Juniata E&M shop and was a member of the Foremen's Association. Friends will be received in the Replogle Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 10 p.m. tomorrow and after 11 a.m. Thursday in the church.
